Albright answers your questions …

As we mentioned earlier this week, we asked for submitted questions for Chris Albright, which – in turn – we had him answer this afternoon following training.

We picked a few questions, which you can see Chris’ answers to below the jump, but we’ll apologize early in that it was a packed day and we didn’t get to every one. (Chris answered them following another, “I want the cup” shoot and there was a bit of “commotion”, shall we say, in the hallway outside the filming room.)

Next week, we’ll feature another player or coach (we’ll still take suggestions) and get the answers when we can corner them in the hotel in D.C. So offer up your suggestions in the comments section and we’ll post the player or coach on Monday.

See Chris Albright’s answers below:

1. Mark asks, “Do you miss playing forward? Do you now prefer your current spot on the right side of the defense?”

Chris Albright: “I prefer my current spot. I do miss playing forward some. Taylor (Twellman) will tell you it’s a real glory position. I think right back suits me well – in a three or a four – and it’s been the best years of my career, so I’m happy where I’m at.”

2. Andrew asks, “Who do you consider the hardest forward in the league to defend.”

Albright: “The hardest forward to defend in the league is Landon. He’s so quick and he’s really kind of found himself to be a goal-scorer this year, I think, more so than in years past. He punishes you if you make a mistake. He crushes any open space you kind of leave. He’s a great player.”

3. AndrewK asks, “How would you compare the coaching style of Steve Nicol to the style of coaches you’ve played under in the past?”

Albright: “Stevie is a players’ coach, for lack of a better word. He’s got a luxury here with having a core group of veterans that dictate the hard work in practice every day. Steve manages the personalities, and does a great job of making this team successful. I think he’s probably the most accomplished – playing-wise – that I’ve played for, so he demands respect just by walking in the locker room.

4. Joe asks, “Which game do you have the strongest memories of and think about most often?”

Albright: “I would say the Cup in 2005 against the Revolution, sorry to say. That’s my most recent championship and it was special being part of a championship. We won the double that year so it was a special year.

5. Matt asks, “How is your favorite ‘other’ team?”

Albright: “My favorite ‘other’ team? Tonight it’s the Philadelphia Phillies. On Sunday, it will be the Philadelphia Eagles and when hockey starts, it’s the Flyers. And the Sixers are going to look strong this year with Elton Brand … I’m a Man United fan since I was a kid.”

6. Scott asks, “Is it me or is the grabbing and tugging getting worse on set pieces?”

Albright: “It is getting worse, but I think it’s just part of the game. I think it happens in a lot of other games … I think it is getting worse and I think they’re taking measures to try and curtail it, but it’s getting worse.”
